In the high-value Australian pneumatic conveying industry, the difference between a functional system and an optimised one comes down to technical expertise. Expert knowledge is required to provide the best solution and design for each application.
As manufacturing hubs in areas such as Greater Melbourne and regional Queensland modernise their pneumatic conveying systems, automation and energy efficiency are becoming key priorities. The need for experienced technical sales engineers has never been more critical.
To meet this growing demand, Pneuvay is proud to announce Syed Zaidi as its newest Technical Sales Manager. He will assist Paul Malcom, General Engineering Manager, in servicing this expanding market.

Meet our Technical Sales Manager Syed Zaidi
Syed's move is a notable one for the local industry. He spent several years with WAM Group, a global leader in bulk solids components. Syed has built a reputation for technical calculation and a deep understanding of bulk powder and granular material behaviour. His decision to join Pneuvay marks a shift from component-level sales to high-level system integration solution provider. With a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and experience in fluid purification, filtration and bulk handling, Syed brings a holistic perspective. He doesn't just see a feeder or valves; he sees the electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic "synergy" required to create a solution that will have the plant operating at peak efficiency.
For Pneuvay, Syed's arrival strengthens our ability to act as a full technical consultancy. Working alongside Paul, he will bridge the gap between complex engineering requirements and practical business solutions. This ensures our clients don't just receive equipment. They receive a custom-engineered path to lower operating expenditure (OPEX) and improved reliability.
Syed often reflects on a favourite quote: "The sum total of excellence is knowledge." This philosophy has guided him through a decade-long journey across the industry's most demanding technical sectors.
Whether mastering the complexities of fluid dynamics or the challenges of heavy-duty bulk solids, Syed has gained extensive experience. Throughout his career, he has collected the "puzzle pieces" of bulk material handling expertise. After years of solving specific technical challenges, he has joined Pneuvay to bring that combined knowledge together. We sat down with Syed to talked about his path here and what it truly means to move from consulting on components to providing complete engineering solutions.

Pneuvay has the technical expertise to design the big picture
For nearly a decade, I have provided technical solutions to the industrial sector, focusing on fluid purification and bulk solids handling. My career began at Sagisa, where I specialised in purification and filtration systems, building a strong technical foundation. This experience gave me a deep understanding of air and fluid dynamics, essential for any high-performance industrial process. Most recently, I spent four years at WAM Group, focusing on the mechanical side of bulk solids handling. In that role, I wasn't just selling products, I helped clients optimise plants by selecting components for specific material challenges. Combining filtration expertise from Sagisa with material handling experience from WAM had prepared me well. It enables me to design complex, system-wide pneumatic conveying solutions here at Pneuvay.
After nearly ten years in the industry, I felt it was time to move from a component-focused role to a system-level engineering environment. At WAM, I enjoyed solving problems with specific pieces of equipment. I wanted to apply that combined knowledge at a more holistic level. Pneuvay is known for engineering complex custom-built pneumatic conveying systems from the ground up. Joining the team allows me to take a more comprehensive approach by solving a customer's entire material handling problem rather than just components. It is about using technical expertise to design the "big picture" for an entire plant.
Pneuvay's reputation for high-quality custom engineering in pneumatic conveying and bulk materials handling was the primary draw for me. The opportunity to work on complex large-scale projects aligned perfectly with my technical background and experience. What has been most impressive in my first few weeks is the strong focus on system synergy. While my previous roles were centred on high-quality standardised products, the culture here is rooted in custom innovation. It is a collaborative engineering-heavy environment where every project is treated as a unique problem to be solved.
Transitioning into a systems-focused role has not just changed Syed's daily workflow. It has sharpened his view of the broader industrial landscape. By moving away from individual components and into the realm of total system design, he has gained a front-row seat to the shifts currently redefining Australian manufacturing that use bulk powders and granular materials. He has also gained insight into the specific pressures facing today's plant managers. We continued Syed to talk about what he sees as the industry's key trends, challenges and innovation.

Committed to delivering technical engineering excellence
There is a clear shift towards automation and higher energy efficiency in Australian manufacturing. Companies are no longer just looking for a system that works. They want a system that minimises power consumption while remaining easy to maintain. With rising energy costs, efficiency is no longer a buzzword. It has become a critical requirement for companies to stay competitive.
Many of our clients are struggling with aging infrastructure. They need to increase throughput to meet demand but cannot necessarily expand their physical footprint. They require smarter, more compact conveying solutions that can be retrofitted into existing tight spaces without a major structural overhaul.
We are seeing much more sophisticated control systems that adjust flow rates in real time based on material behaviour. There have also been significant advancements in wear-resistant materials. When handling difficult or abrasive products, having a system that can withstand the environment for longer periods is a game-changer for reducing downtime.
Many companies design excellent equipment based on standardised product lines. However, pneumatic conveying is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution space. The limitation of a standardised approach is that it does not always account for the unique variables of a site or material. That is where Pneuvay excels. We do not simply pull a part off a shelf. We engineer the solution to address the specific bottleneck the customer is facing.
Understanding broader industry shifts is one thing. Applying that knowledge to a specific client's floor requires a unique type of collaboration. At Pneuvay, this translates into a partnership where technical sales expertise overlaps with veteran engineering experience. For Syed, joining this established team was not just about a new title. It was about finding the right environment to apply his "big picture" thinking and this is what he had to say about this.

Comprehensive onsite system audits
What excites me most is the opportunity to bridge the gap between complex engineering requirements and practical business solutions. At Pneuvay, we are not just selling a piece of hardware. We identify bottlenecks in a process and design pneumatic systems to solve them. My role is to act as a bridge between the client's challenges and our engineering capabilities. I focus on technical calculations and material behaviour and work closely with the team to develop practical solutions. Together with Michael and Paul's extensive industry experience, we provide a comprehensive consultancy approach that covers everything from bulk material handling to intricate dust filtration.
It is definitely a shift in mindset. It requires a detailed level of calculation and a broader view of the entire plant's operation. You must consider how one change at the beginning of the line affects pressure, velocity, and material integrity at the very end. Fortunately, the transition has been easier because of the collaborative culture here. Working alongside Michael and Paul has been an excellent experience. They possess a wealth of industry knowledge that complements my technical background perfectly. There is a collective drive within the entire Pneuvay family to deliver high-quality engineering. That shared energy made me feel at home almost immediately.
I'm most excited about the projects that require precision and innovative thinking, the ones where a "standard" solution has already failed. We will be helping customers reduce downtime and improve the reliability of their material transfer. I see a massive opportunity in upgrading aging industrial infrastructure across the region. Many plants are looking to transition toward smarter, more energy-efficient systems to remain competitive. Pneuvay is perfectly positioned to lead that shift through custom-engineered retrofits that actually respect the existing footprint of the facility.

Building on legacy of reliability
I hope to further strengthen Pneuvay's position as the go-to partner for complex system-level engineering. My goal is to ensure every client sees us not just as an equipment supplier but as a technical consultant that helps lower their OPEX through smarter more efficient pneumatic designs. I am particularly excited about the diverse range of projects we have in the pipeline. Many involve challenging material handling conditions that are ideal for the knowledge-based excellence we strive for at Pneuvay.
Yes, it has. Moving to Pneuvay has shifted my focus from individual parts to the entire process. In the short time I have been here, I have already learned a great deal about system synergy and how team dynamics influence client outcomes. It is a more collaborative environment than I have ever worked in. That environment has fundamentally changed my approach to problem-solving.
For me, balance is everything. Outside of work, I focus on staying active and making the most of every moment with my daughter and family. Stepping away from the high-pressure environment of system design to spend time with them helps me stay sharp. It provides the perspective I need to remain motivated and brings fresh energy to the complex problems we solve at Pneuvay.
I look forward to strengthening our relationships and supporting the market with Pneuvay's unique expertise. Whether you are dealing with aging infrastructure or automating a complex new process, I am here to provide the technical clarity and reliable solutions you need. As my favourite quote says, knowledge is the sum of excellence. I am ready to apply that knowledge to give them the best solution.
